Updating apps
Update an app from its Package tab
Section titled “Update an app from its Package tab”- Open the app on the Apps page and go to the Package tab.
- Pick the new version (and change PSADT options or scripts if you need to).
- Choose New app that supersedes (the default) or Update in place.
- Click Review the change, check it, then upload.
With New app that supersedes, MDO creates a new Intune app that supersedes the current one and moves the assignments to it. Devices that have the old version update, and MDO keeps the last three versions so you can roll back. With Update in place, the same Intune app gets a new content version.
The Updates page
Section titled “The Updates page”Updates under Apps lists apps MDO manages where Winget has a newer version than the one deployed. Each row has an Apply button that updates the app in place. The figures refresh with each Intune sync. A scan on demand isn’t available yet.
What isn’t automatic yet
Section titled “What isn’t automatic yet”MDO doesn’t update apps on its own today. Coming next:
- an update policy for each app (off, approval, automatic or pinned), with approval as the default;
- rings with a pilot step before everyone gets the new version.
See Coming next.
